Heeman’s had outgrown its previous website. They’d become more than just a greenhouse—so they sought tbk’s expertise to modernize their website.

They wanted an easy-to-update platform that would help educate people and bring more customers in-store throughout the year, not just at strawberry season and the holidays. They wanted to genuinely help gardening gurus and green-thumb novices year-round.

A Website to Power New Growth

Armed with SEO research and user experience best practices, tbk built a new, custom WordPress site for Heeman’s. It was one of the largest website builds in tbk history.

The website that tbk created for Heeman’s makes wayfinding easy with simple navigation and elastic search capabilities. People can find basic information such as store hours as well as highly variable information such as the produce and products that are in-season/in-stock.

New e-Commerce functionality allows people to purchase event tickets and gift cards on the website, bringing more people in-store. Heeman’s is also now able to sell their cider through their website, creating a new revenue avenue for them.

Heeman’s now has a website that’s as fresh and colourful as the fruit and plants they’ve been growing for generations.

The information architecture of the new website was carefully designed so people can find (and favourite) helpful gardening content, guides, recipes, and market reports. The experience can be customized to each user, bringing the warmth of Heeman’s in-store experience online.

The user-friendly and intuitive interface makes it easy for Heeman’s team to update their website whenever necessary—almost daily. People can sign up for opt-in emails and texts on the website to stay connected with Heeman’s year-round.

People are spending more time on the new website, averaging 2 min 24 secs compared to 53 seconds on the old website. The new website has over 300% more commerce transactions compared to the same time period on the old website. That’s 165% more e-commerce revenue.
