Celebrating Women & Technology

March 8, 2018

March 8, 2018 – Today is International Women’s Day; it’s also known as the UN’s Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.

Gender equality is a social issue, but at tbk Creative, we also believe its an economical one too.

Here’s an example why: Only 25% of employees in the tech industry are women, yet female consumers influence 83% of all buying decisions. For instance, you need look no further than the many unnecessary line-ups women endure in public spaces for washrooms as a prime example of what can happen when women are left out of the creation process.

Proudly at tbk Creative at this current time, 50% of our staff, management and ownership are women.

To us, we fundamentally believe when women have a seat at the table, more financially successful websites, brand identities, digital campaigns and applications are built for our clients.

Some of the results of this belief is evidenced in the results our company has been able to achieve as an Ontario-based web design and digital marketing provider. For instance, with gratitude, we work with several of Ontario’s iconic brands such as 3M Canada, Jiffy Lube Ontario, Hino Motors Canada and more; we have 24 staff; and our agency has been awarded no less than 13 digital marketing awards on an international stage.

To advance the conversation about encouraging more women in technology, tbk Creative secured the cover wrap for the March issue of Business London magazine. Our team stands as a leader in gender equality and inclusivity, and we hope this statement inspires more women to consider tech as a career path.

tbk Creative’s CEO & Chief Creative Officer, Melissa McInerney, had this to say, “Proud doesn’t begin to describe the feeling of seeing the tbk Creative fierce females boldly make their presence known in London on the cover wrap for the March issue of Business London cover wrap. Daily I’m inspired by their creativity and talent. This cover wrap is a celebration of women, and a statement of how including women in the strategy, design and execution of any digital campaign or product is smart for businesses and society.”

To us, women’s rights and proper representation is not only about a vibrant, healthy society, but it simply makes business sense.
