Schiestel Retires from Chamber Board of Directors

London, ON, July 8, 2019 – July 1st, 2019 is the beginning of a new fiscal year for the London Chamber of Commerce and marked the retirement of tbk’s President, Andrew Schiestel, from the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Other retirements include Anne Marie Decicco-Best, Bill Boyce and Holden Rhodes.

Schiestel joined the Chamber’s Board in 2014, serving as a Director initially for two years before joining the Executive Committee and serving a one-year term as Executive Vice-President Program and a one-year term as President (Chair) for the 2017/2018 fiscal year.

During Schiestel’s tenure, he was heavily involved in policy work having co-authored the original Canadian Chamber of Commerce policy on Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) Reform, served on the Coalition of Independent Technology Businesses, co-authored ratified policies on growing Canada’s economy through innovation, effectively regulating the sharing economy and authoring the paper, How to Make London Even More Competitive in the Digital Economy.

During his tenure, he further contributed to strengthening diversity at the Chamber, having contributed to policy work in this area; the Board now comprising of 45% women upon Schiestel’s retirement.

In the 2019/2020 year, Schiestel will serve one last term on the Chamber’s Nominating Committee.

Succeeding Schiestel and other retirements are approximately 20 senior professionals who will continue to govern the Chamber and advocate well on behalf of businesses and our economy.
